Child Care | Kids Care – Taking Care Of Children’s
Relationships with our children are not built overnight. Although kids may not know how to express their appreciation, they won’t forget the special times, the one-on-one moments that you spend with them.
Kids Care During Bed Time
Instead of giving your babies the two-second bath, make getting ready for bed an event. Pour in the bubbles; let the little ones hit the water; with you close by, of course, enjoying the splish-splash. After pulling your child from the suds, give him/her an all over baby massage with lotion. Top the relaxing adventure with several of your child’s favorite bedtime stories.
Entertainment And Child Care.
‘Say no to the idiot box’
The amount of time that kids watch television and spend surfing the internet is increasing every day. Recent surveys say over one third of all parents let their kids and teens spend the majority of their free time in front of a computer or television screen. Sure, we use the television for more than entertainment . Often, we use it as a crutch.
You know the scene: Pop in the Lion King tape so the kids are occupied while you wash clothes or cook. Or, too tired to talk, you plop down on the couch with the kids and watch TV (which is not quality time, by the way!). Once in a while, break the mindless routine, and engage your children in a good old board game or take a family walk.
How to Cherish Your Children
“I love him not because he is good”, said Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore, “but because he is my little child.” What a powerful way of saying why we love and care our children!
Child Care While Talking
While we all interpret, and understand, parenting differently, some tried-and-tested advice always helps you be a more nurturing mother.
1. Never, never, ever be sarcastic to your children. Care using every word as words can leave scars for life .
2. Cultivate the art of listening without being judgmental. Make your kids feel they can confide in you and keep their confidence.
3. Honor the promises you make to your children.
Other ways to spend time together and show you care for your children :
1. Take them with you for a drive: a great time to start a conversation.
2. Go for coffee or tea once a week, even if it is just 30 minutes. It is great opportunity to find out what is going on in their life.
3. Go shopping at their favorite mall; catch a fun movie together.
4. Let them help you at home: bake a cake, or re-arrange furniture. Teens do love to help. It makes them feel like you trust them.
5. Go to a concert or sporting event together.
6. Rent movies and stay up late on a Saturday night.
7. Go to the music store with them. Let them show you the music they like. (Be interested, even if you don’t like it!)
8. Stay indoors and share some intimate moments. Talk about your memories, hopes and dreams. For ideas on what you can talk about, pick up a copy of The Mom And Dad Conversation Piece, by Bret Nicholaus and Paul Lowrie.
