Important Note
Australian universities have two semesters during each academic year, with the exception of Bond University, which has three trimesters, or three terms.
Semester I commences each February/March. Semester II commences in July/August. To increase your odds of acceptance within the more popular programmes, do apply six to eight months before you intend to start, and no later than the stated deadlines mentioned of each university. Most applicants find out if they are officially accepted within one to three weeks of application. In some cases, universities issue preliminary acceptances within 24-48 hours. Applying to universities
Send inquiries at least 12 months before the date of admission. You can request application forms via e-mail from the universities web sites/ download from the university web site. You could also get applications from university representatives in your country.
Most Australian universities accept the three-year graduation system for entry into most postgraduate courses. An Indian bachelor degree, like BA, BCom or BSc, is equivalent to Australian Bachelor (Honours) Degree, which requires either a honors graduation degree like BA (H), B Com (H) etc or 16 years of formal education. It means another year
after graduation or a four-year after graduation or a four-year degree course, like BE, BTech and other such courses. For most universities, a good first degree from a leading university in India or its equivalent is essential.
Academic Records Requirements
Submit full details of your education, including course subjects and grades, with transcripts or official record of previous academic qualifications.

- Standardized Tests
International students must take IELTS (International English Language Test), administered by the British Council. Some universities may accept TOFEL as an alternative. For management courses, do submit your GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) score. - Letter of Recommendation
Letters of reference or recommendation letters are important, especially in master’s or doctoral courses. The letter should list your positive and negative qualities, strengths, etc. - Statement of Purpose
The personal essays, and /or statement of purpose, also play a very important role in the process of evaluating your application for both admission as well as financial aid because it gives the faculty assessing your application their most significant impression of you as an individual.

The Australian High Commission works with TT Services for loading of visa applications. - Visit www.ttaustraliavisas.com for more information. Some students are eligible to apply for students visas online at www.immi.gov.au you need to submit all your documents to the TT Services office. A medical checkup is a must before your student visa is issued. Compared to other countries, the student visa application fees are high: Rs 15,150 (including Rs 450 as a TT Service fee).
The entire visa application process can take eight to 12 weeks. So do apply early.
