Oils Benefits
- Their antioxidant effect accelerates growth of skin cells slowing down the process of aging.
- Oil stimulate circulation and encourage lymph drainage, this removing toxins and giving a rosy glow.
- They tone and strengthen the capillaries giving skin a new breath of life.
- Some oils have anti-coagulant effect helping to resolve bruising.
- Many essentials are noted for their cooling and healing effects on inflamed skin. They are excellent fro treating eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, insect bites and stings.
- Certain essential oils balance sebum production and are, therefore excellent for treating all skin types.
Skin Cleansing Toning Moisturizing
- Cleansing - A face wash with essential oils is wonderful because the oils dissolves waxes, impurities and help remove them from your skin. Essential oils are also natural antiseptics, so they fight acne-causing bacteria. That is why essential oil-based facial cleansers allow you to get in deep, stimulate the skin and promote exfoliation.
- Toning - For a home made facial toner, mix green tea, chamomile or ginseng tea (made with mineral water or distilled water ) with lavender or lemon oil.
- Moisturizing - When using essential oils to moisturize the skin, add them to a base oil. Jojoba or evening primrose are the best base oils. Less expensive, but equally good, base oils include : Pure sesame, olive, grape seed, hemp and coconut. you can also create your own moisturizer by adding a few drops of your favourite essential oil fragrance and lanolin free cream or lotion.
Example : Virgin coconut oil is one of the best moisturizers. It provides a protective layer that seals in natural moisture. Place a coconut oil in small sterilized jar, then use as follows :
- For a lip balm use the coconut oil on its own or add a few drops of peppermint oil.
- To treat acne add a few drops of tea tree lavender or patchouli oil.
- For wrinkles add rose, orange, or patchouli oil.
- To treat broken capillaries, add rose oil.
Which Beauty Oils ?
- To fight cellulite add some lemon oil, peppermint, eucalyotus, carrot or thyme oil to your base oil or cream.
- To minimize the appearance of scar tissue use patchouli.
- To feel energetic in the morning use essential oils of peppermint, eucalyptus and ylang-ylang.
- For dry skin, use equal amount of Castor oil, jojoba, Vitamin E, primrose and olive oil. Mix with essential oils to make healing essence.
Precautions Using This Essential Skin Oils
- Do not apply essential oils directly. They can burn the skin.
- Make sure the oil does not get into the eyes.
- Pregnant women should stay off essential Oils.
- Always dilute essential oils by adding 1-4 drops of them to half a cup of carrier oil. Once diluted, you can use them for local applications on the body, add them to your bath, or use in compress.
- And, oh, you can also mix them with water and alcohol for a refreshing scent in your room or on your clothes.
