Some Facts about BreastFeeding

- Suckling stimulates the release of a hormone (prolactin), which stimulates milk production.
- At the beginning of the feeding, the milk is bluish and contains lactose and proteins, but little fat; it is called foremilk.
- The end of the feeding produces hindmilk. The hindmilk contains more fat, the main source of energy for your baby.

- She does not have dimples in her cheeks and is not making clicking noises while breastfeeding.
- You can hear her swallow while nursing.
- Your breasts feel softer after feeding.
- She is gaining at least an ounce of weight every day.
- She is asking to be fed every two to three hours.
