  • Benefits Of Power Nap and Napping Habits

“A power nap (sometimes called a catnap) is a short sleep, usually 15-20 minutes. This short duration napping habit has many benefits of sleep. However, while the term catnap was traditionally used to describe a short nap on a lazy Sunday afternoon, the power nap involves a break from activity, and could be part of a normal working day..”

Have you ever caught someone napping on the job? At her desk, or behind a table at work or in school? Believe it or not, while most HR conduct books will emphasis that employees caught sleeping at work can run the risk of being sacked. today, many companies across the globe are endorsing the values of a power nap.

Reasons Of Napping ?

“Napping in general benefits heart functioning, hormonal maintenance and cell repair” Sleep comes in five stages that recur cyclically throughout a typical night, and a power nap seeks to include just the first two of them. The initial stage features the sinking into sleep as electrical brain activity, eye and jaw-muscle movement, and respiration slows. The second is a light but restful sleep in which the body gets ready, lowering its temperature and relaxing muscles further, for the entry into the deep and dreamless “slow-wave” (SWS) that occurs in stages three and four. Stage five, of course, is REM, when the eyes twitch and dreaming becomes intense.

4 Benefits Of Power Nap

  1. You’re not being lazy: napping will make you more productive and more alert after you wake up.
  2. The best time to nap is just after lunch. Late afternoon napping is more likely to make you feel groggy on waking.
  3. Find a clean, quiet place where passers-by and phones won’t disturb you.
  4. Once you are relaxed and in position to fall asleep, set your alarm for the desired duration which should be around 20 minutes if you want to wake up refreshed.
