Good Hostess Guide – 10 Good Things To Know For Hostess
Some 10 important things to know being a good hostess. A helpful guide whenever you need it.
1. Know your guest well before you invite them over. You would not want make to make small conversation at your house with a complete stranger.
2. As a hostess do not be busy cooking while your guests wait. They have come to be with you, to have an enjoyable evening in your company. Give them adequate quality time.
3. Many are on a lean diet these days. Avoid serving food with oil and ghee dripping out of your dishes. Instead, serve some healthy, tasty food. It keeps the stomach and waistline happy. Show you are a caring hostess.
4. Find out your guests choice of liquor, so you do not end up saying, “I’m sorry, but.”
5. Find out if your guests are vegetarian or non-vegetarian. You will be embarrassed if you serve non-vegetarian food to vegetarian guests.
6. Keep the powder room and bathroom squeaky clean and dry, with an adequate supply of liquid soap and paper towels. A good hostess makes the guest comfortable and happy.
7. Do not seat two quiet people next to each other. See if any guest is feeling left out of bored. Get him/her involved and encourage others to make him/her part of their group.
8. Do not invite your guest for lunch and serve food at tea time, as is the case at most Sunday lunches. Like you, everyone expects to finish early and head home to enjoy a good Sunday nap.
9. Do not mix two different types of people at one party. A model and a photographer will have a lot to talk about, but a technocrat and a model might not know where to start a conversation.
10. Be cool about everything, even the breaking of your crystal glasses or cigarette burns on your new imported sofa. You cannot get catty with your guest. It is against traditional Indian hospitality.
